ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) will impose the “no take, one-strike policy” on police chiefs who fail to curb illegal gambling in their area of operations.

Brig. Gen. Froilan Quidilla, PRO-9 director, said Monday the policy is part of the campaign of the command against corruption and illegal gambling.

“All personnel must strictly adhere to the relentless campaign against illegal gambling across the region,” Quidilla said.

Quidilla warned that those found involved in any illegal gambling activities, be they a gambler or a protector, will be relieved and will be charged administratively and criminally.

He said all commanders of units under PRO-9 have submitted an Affidavit of Undertaking confirming that there is no illegal gambling operation in their respective areas of responsibility.

A special unit from the PRO-9 headquarters was activated to conduct anti-illegal gambling operations across the region, he added.

“One successful anti-illegal gambling operation within the area of responsibility of a police station in a municipality or city shall result in the relief of the chief of police,” he said.

Quidilla has called on the public to support the anti-illegal gambling campaign by informing them through Isumbong Mo I-Action Ko Hotline numbers at 0961-297-70-64 for Smart, and 0977-310-23-65 for Globe subscribers.

“We cannot accomplish this campaign of keeping our Peninsula safe, secure and free from illegal gambling without your help,” he said. (PNA)
