DUMAGUETE CITY - Five persons deprived of liberties (PDLs) who bolted jail last Feb. 3 have been recaptured and now back in the district jail of the Bureau of Management and Penology (BJMP) in Manjuyod, Negros Oriental.

The PDLs were recaptured by personnel of the Tayasan Police Station, headed by Lt. Tommy Tan OIC police chief, in coordination with the BJMP provincial office led by Jail Sr. Insp. Roly Bandeling.

Tan disclosed that the police station received information Saturday about the presence of the escapees in Tayasan.

He said the barangay secretary reported the presence of the escapees to his father who in turn reported the same to the police.

The OIC chief of police immediately formed a team for the immediate recapture of two of the suspects, who made the first move to surrender.

Ronnie Flores and Janly Calunsod Callao, both from Negros Oriental, voluntarily surrendered and disclosed the whereabouts of the three other suspects.

Tan said the five had a misunderstanding among them after they bolted jail, because some would like to go to Barangay Irene which is located in the hinterland barangay of Jimalalud while the others refused to go there.

The three others recaptured in Sitio Calamboan in Barangay Tayasan were Joseph Balderas Casido, Julan Dela Cruz Paculanang, and Lito Cayetano Pedro, also natives of Negros Oriental. (PNA)
