KIDAPAWAN CITY, North Cotabato – Governor Nancy Catamco announced on Tuesday that the provincial government has approved the increase in the honorarium of barangay workers.

Catamco said the increase in the honorarium of barangay health workers (BHW), barangay nutrition scholars (BNS), and day care workers (DCW) takes effect immediately.

Provincial Board Member Philbert Malaluan on Tuesday afternoon led the release of the additional PHP200 honorarium to the barangay employees who now receive a monthly honorarium of PHP700 each.

Meanwhile, Malaluan said the provincial government has also approved the grant of cash incentives to barangay workers based on their length of service.

He said the cash incentives are as follows: 10 years, PHP10,000; 15 years, PHP15,000; 20 years, PHP20,000; 25 years, PHP25,000; and 30 years, PHP30,000.

“Our barangay workers are now considered modern-day heroes for serving despite limited resources. The sacrifices they rendered are being recognized, especially in terms of health services,” Catamco said in a statement. (PNA)
