Solcom chief receives 3rd star

MANILA — Southern Luzon Command (Solcom) chief, Maj. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr., formally received on Thursday his third star after being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.

AFP Chief-of-Staff Gen. Felimon Santos Jr., presided over the donning ceremony at the Bulwagang Balangiga in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

Parlade assumed command of Solcom on January 17, replacing Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay who is now the Philippine Army (PA) chief.

He previously led the AFP’s Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations and is a key figure in the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

Among notable positions he held were chief of Public Affairs Office and spokesperson for the PA; Chief of Staff for Headquarters and Headquarters Support Group, PA; Chief for Information Operations Division, Executive Officer, and Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations of the AFP.

He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1987.

Meanwhile, newly-appointed Chief of Dental Service AFP, Col. Angelica Torres donned her first star after her promotion to the next higher rank as Brigadier General.

She replaced Col. Enrique Pacifico Pabayo last February 26.

Torres previously held the position of Chief of the Air Force Dental Service since July 2018.

She also served as chairman of AFP Dental Service Selection Board "B", executive officer and commanding officer of 1303rd Philippine Air Force Dental Dispensary (PAFDD), Air Education Training and Doctrine Command.

She entered the military service in 1993 after being called to active duty as 1st Lieutenant. (PNA)
