CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Governor Dennis Pineda has called on fellow local executives, as well as officials of government agencies in Central Luzon, to work as one region in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Pineda made the call during the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) special meeting here attended by provincial governors, city mayors, and officials of government agencies at PANA Hall, Camp Captain Julian Olivas, on Thursday.

During the meeting, he said it would be better if all the provinces in the region work together as one in planning and taking appropriate response against the highly contagious disease.

"Mas mainam siguro kung i-activate na ang response cluster framework ng Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC). Ang Council na lang ang magse-set ng meeting para coordinated ang lahat, kaysa magkanya-kanya ang mga probinsiya (It might be better to activate the response cluster framework of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. The Council will be the one to set the meeting so that all are coordinated instead of the provinces doing to each his own)," Pineda said.

He also asked the Council to entrust with the local government units (LGU) the lists of patient under investigation (PUI), and those who have been tested positive of Covid-19.

"Huwag natin silang itago nang sa gayo'y kaagad nating matugunan ang kanilang mga pangangailangan (Let us not keep them so that we could immediately respond to their needs)," he said.

Prior to this, the Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH) here released a statement confirming there are two positive cases of Covid-19 and five PUIs admitted to their facility.

Pineda, however, assured that the provincial government is continuously doing its best to create and strengthen the measures aimed at preventing the spread of the virus throughout the province.

Pineda also appealed to the public to immediately consult a medical professional once flu-like symptoms occur. (PNA)
