LEGAZPI CITY -- Bicol remains free from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Department of Health (DOH) regional office here announced on Tuesday.

In a phone interview, Dr. Ernie Vera, director of DOH-Bicol, said there is, however, one patient under investigation (PUI) in the region as of Monday.

Vera said the reported PUI is in isolation at a facility in Camarines Sur.

DOH-Bicol data on Covid-19 indicated that 18 PUIs admitted in two quarantine hospitals in Bicol, all tested negative for the disease and were discharged.

“As for the cases of persons under monitoring, records indicate that 13,383 persons are still under the 14-day mandatory self-quarantine. Of this figure, 60 were cleared and discharged,” Vera said.

The DOH's Covid-19 tracker reported that Camarines Sur had the highest number of patients under monitoring (PUMs) with 6,773; followed by Camarines Norte with 3,835; Masbate – 2,616; Albay – 12; and Sorsogon – 38. Catanduanes had no PUM reported.

When asked on the circulating report that five suspected PUIs were admitted at the Bicol Regional Teaching and Training Hospital, Vera said the office is still validating matter. (PNA)
