ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two suspected Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a teacher five months ago were arrested in a law enforcement operation here, an official said Monday.

Col. Tom Tuzon, Criminal Investigation, and Detection Group-9 (CIDG-9) director identified the suspects as Erma Sahibol and Kimar Juram, both allegedly followers of Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Idang Susukan.

Tuzon said the authorities, armed with warrants of arrest, nabbed the two men around 9:15 p.m. Saturday in Sitio Malandi, Barangay Patalon.

Sahibol and Juram have standing warrants of arrest for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of Rosina Singua, a public school teacher on Sept. 27, 2019.

Tuzon said Singua, accompanied by Sahibol, were on their way to a wedding when they were abducted.

The Joint Task Force Sulu rescued Singua on October 16 from a hotel room in Barangay Walled City, Jolo, Sulu, minutes after her daughter, Soraya Bantongan, handed over some PHP283,000 ransom to a young lady at the port of Jolo.

Two persons--all ransom claimants--were arrested separately during the operation. (PNA)
