SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Ilocos regional office (DSWD-1) is repacking over 40,000 family food packs to be distributed in the entire region.

In an interview on Monday, DSWD-1 information officer Darwin Chan said the recipients of the relief goods are families identified by their local government units (LGUs).

“Our target number of family packs will depend on the LGU’s request. But so far at present, the LGUs and the barangay officials are distributing their own relief packs for their constituents. DSWD’s relief will be an augmentation later on,” he said.

Chan added a delivery plan will be followed in distributing the goods to the recipients.

“We hope we would be able to pack more in the coming days,” he said.

Each family pack contains six kilograms of rice, four cans of corned beef, four cans of sardines, and six-packs of energy drink or coffee.

Ilocos Region is composed of Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte provinces. (PNA)
