CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Some 46,368 private sector workers in Central Luzon were provided with a PHP5,000 cash assistance each under the Covid-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Ma. Zenaida Angara-Campita, DOLE regional director for Central Luzon, said on Monday that their agency has already released a total PHP231.84 million as an assistance to workers affected by the enhanced community quarantine brought by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

Under Department Order No. 209, s. 2020, private establishments that have implemented flexible work arrangements (FWA) or temporary closure due to Covid-19 may apply under CAMP.

Upon approval of the DOLE regional office, each of the employees will receive a one-time financial support of PHP5,000 transferred directly to the worker’s payroll account or through money remittance centers.

So far, some 2,079 establishments in Central Luzon have been covered by CAMP.

Out of the total figure, 83 approved establishments with 891 workers are from Aurora; 212 establishments with 5,881 workers are from Bataan; 417 establishments with 12,353 workers from Bulacan; 254 establishments with 3,658 workers from Nueva Ecija; 651 establishments with 15,666 workers from Pampanga including Clark; 26 establishments with 2,941 workers from Tarlac and 236 establishments with 4,978 workers from Zambales.

“We understand the needs and sentiments of everyone affected, most especially the daily-wage earners. On our end, we are fast-tracking the processing of CAMP the best way we can, and majority of our employees have already been utilized for this purpose,” Angara-Campita said in a statement.

Meanwhile, she said that DOLE’s evaluation of applications for the PHP5,000 cash assistance is ongoing for the rest of the month. (PNA)
