COTABATO CITY – There are no new confirmed cases of 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) since last week in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the regional health ministry said Wednesday.

As of April 14, data from BARMM's Ministry of Health (MOH) showed that the last recorded confirmed case was on April 6, a 54-year-old male patient from Maguindanao.

"Of the total eight positive cases in the region, two are still recovering," said Dr. Safrullah Dipatuan, MOH-BARMM chief.

One is admitted at Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City, while the other one is undergoing strict home quarantine in Maguindanao, he added.

"Both Covid-19 confirmed patients have been tested and monitored rigidly, they are now in stable condition," Dipatuan said.

Early on, three of the Covid confirmed patients in the region died, while three others were discharged from the hospital. Still, as of April 14, the BARMM has 8,809 suspected Covid-19 cases with 7,268 completing their 14-day home quarantine.

A total of 64 other suspected patients remain under "strict" home quarantine.

While the Covid-19 cases in the region continue to decrease, Dipatuan said BARMM will sustain the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine as a precaution to the possibility of a second wave of Covid-related incidents.

Dipatuan urged BARMM constituents to continue practicing social distancing, frequent handwashing, and adhere to the guidelines set by the Bangsamoro Inter-Agency Task Force to prevent the spread of the disease. (PNA)
