MANILA – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday announced that it will resume operations for the issuance of NBI clearance after the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) over Luzon is lifted.

In a statement, NBI public information office chief Nicanor Suarez said the agency will be resuming clearance processing on May 4.

Meanwhile, NBI officer-in-charge Eric Distor cautioned the public against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) scams and criminals who are out to steal personal information.

He also urged them to beware of scammers and fraudulent e-mails regarding Covid-19 and watch out for fake e-mails from government agencies that claim to offer information on the pandemic.

The agency also urged the public to research on any internet links purporting to provide any information and updates on the virus, donations, contributions for free food campaigns, online food purchases or requiring personal information to receive money.

The public may contact the NBI Operations Center at 0961-734-9450 or at the NBI Anti-Fraud or Cybercrime Divisions 85238231 to 38 or through these other numbers: 0917-189-3100 and 0975-1539146. (PNA)
