BALANGA CITY, Bataan —The provincial government here has been preparing and distributing from breakfast to supper not less than 3,250 food packs daily for health workers and other front-liners while the province is under the enhanced community quarantine.

Governor Albert Garcia said on Sunday that they are in full support of front-liners at Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC), Bataan People’s Center, hotels, and checkpoints.

The BGHMC was turned Friday into an exclusive hospital facility for confirmed Covid-19 positive patients while the Bataan People’s Center was designated as a patient care center for hospital workers.

Aside from food, the provincial government also provided free hotel and transportation accommodations and security for front-liners, especially the medical workers.

The governor also said additional mattresses, pillows, bedsheets and blankets were being readied.

Some 250 foam beds, 400 flat sheets, bed sheets and pillows were reserved for medical workers who were exposed to those tested positive of the virus and not allowed to go out of BGHMC while waiting for laboratory results.

“Kailangan nilang talagang manatili sa loob ng ospital hangga’t hindi lumalabas ang resulta ng kanilang test kaya pansamantalang gamit nila ay make-shift beds (They indeed need to stay inside the hospital until the result of the test is released. Thus, they are temporarily using the make-shift beds,” Garcia said.

He said that 282 health workers from BGHMC have been billeted in six hotels where they are provided free food and transportation. These workers were those found negative of Covid-19, had no exposure with those tested positive, and continuously serve at the hospital.

As of Friday, there were 42 doctors, nurses, nursing attendants and other health workers of BGHMC who tested positive of the Covid-19.

“Lahat ng mga hakbang ay ginagawa ng ating pamahalaang panlalawigan upang pangalagaan ang kalusugan at kapakanan ng lahat, maging mga ordinaryong mamamayan, front-liners or health workers man (The provincial government has been doing all the measures to protect the health and welfare of all, even the ordinary citizens, front-liners and health workers),” Garcia said.
