MANILA – The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Thursday announced that it has already forwarded the medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) donated by the Gatchalian family to its hubs in Mindanao.

"(The) OCD shipped on 29 April 2020 the PPE (sets), face shields, face masks, and goggles that were donated by Senator Win Gatchalian and Congressman Wes Gatchalian for front-line health workers in Mindanao amid efforts to battle (the) coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19)," the OCD said in a Facebook post.

The items, worth PHP30 million and acquired by the Gatchalian family from Fujian, China, arrived at Villamor Air Base, Pasay City on Sunday and were immediately turned over to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and OCD Administrator Ricardo Jalad on the same day.

The office said the supplies were disinfected upon arrival at the ports on Wednesday afternoon and underwent inventory in the OCD’s logistics hubs in Davao City for Eastern Mindanao and Zamboanga City for Western Mindanao prior to their immediate distribution to health facilities.

"(The) OCD thanks the Gatchalian family for these donations and the Philippine Air Force for providing air transport and assistance in hauling these supplies to OCD warehouses," it added. (PNA)
