ILOILO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Western Visayas (DSWD-6) on Thursday said it is nearing the 100 percent social amelioration program (SAP) payout to its target beneficiaries.

Ma. Evelyn Macapobre, DSWD-6 regional director, in Thursday’s virtual presser, reported that the department was able to reach 89.51 percent of the SAP payout.

This percentage is equivalent to a total of 1,032,772 beneficiaries given with a total amount of PHP6.1 billion as of noontime of Thursday, she said.

Macapobre said 79 of the 133 local government units have already reached a 100 percent payout accomplishment.

She added that of the 79, 17 are from Iloilo; 16 each in Antique, Capiz and Negros Occidental; nine are from Aklan; and five are from Guimaras.

“Twenty-eight (of the LGUs with 100 percent payout accomplishment) have already submitted their complete liquidation documents,” she said.

The region was also able to pay to 7, 322 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries without cash cards. Those with cash cards already received their top-up 4Ps grant last April 3.

Western Visayas is left with 54 local government units with still ongoing SAP payout.

“There are still 54 LGUs with ongoing payout but the majority of these LGUs reached more than 90 percent of the target,” she said.

“Our focus is really to finish the distribution of the first tranche emergency subsidy assistance under the SAP,” she said.

Meanwhile, the regional social welfare and development office is yet to receive the guidelines from the national government whether or not there will be a second tranche for SAP. (PNA)
