Recoveries among overseas Filipinos stand at 849: DFA

MANILA – The recoveries among overseas Filipinos with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) now stood at 849 while the death toll is at 280, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Tuesday.

As of May 19, the department logged 21 new recoveries in two regions and one new death in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, 26 new confirmed cases raised the overall tally to 2,431. Filipino patients undergoing treatment are over 1,300.

Of the confirmed cases, 447 were registered in the Asia Pacific region, 736 in Europe, 705 in Middle East/Africa, and 543 in the Americas.

Based on the latest DFA data, at least 121 are still undergoing treatment in the Asia Pacific region, 424 in Europe, 567 in Middle East/Africa, and 190 in the Americas.

Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez noted that the DFA is also working to get repatriation flights for Filipinos affected by the pandemic.

Over 27,000 Filipinos returned to the Philippines since February 2020, he said. (PNA)
