BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Governor Albert Garcia on Wednesday announced that six more patients recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in this province, bringing the total number of recoveries to 129.

“We are happy to announce that six, including two children, were now included in the list of those who recovered from Covid-19,” Garcia said.

The governor, citing the Tuesday night report of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), said the two newly-recovered children are a two-year-old from this city and an 11-year-old from Pilar town, both males.

He said the other recoveries are a 72-year-old man from this city, an 86-year-old woman from Orion town, and a 21-year-old woman and 26-year-old man from Pilar.

The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases stayed at 147 and deaths at seven.

“Again, please stay at home and be very careful so that Covid-19 cases will stop increasing in the province,” the governor said.

Meanwhile, Garcia said the almost daily reports on recoveries does not mean that some areas in the province could already be declared as free from Covid-19.

He clarified that an area could only be considered as free from the dreaded disease if not a single confirmed case was recorded in the locality.

Reports showed that all 11 towns and one city have confirmed Covid-19 cases although in some areas, all the patients have reportedly recovered.

Garcia said contact tracing and monitoring of probable and suspect cases are ongoing while waiting for the release of the results of 284 individuals subjected to Covid-19 tests.

“The provincial government has started expanded testing, especially among front-liners and suspect cases. We ask for more patience and cooperation so we will win the fight against this dreaded disease,” he said. (PNA)
