BUTUAN CITY – Days after its operations resumed on May 13 after the lockdowns were lifted, the Land Transportation Office’s district office in Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte (LTO-ADN) collected PHP1.23 million from vehicle registrations, issuance of licenses, and law enforcement operations.

“We are back in our operations after the lockdowns. Residents (of) Agusan del Norte, especially those who have pending transactions with LTO are glad that we can now serve them regularly,” Engineer Eugene P. Rula of the Land Transportation Office in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte, said in an interview on Wednesday.

Rula said during the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), only law enforcement personnel were required to report for work to provide support to quarantine checkpoints and ferry front-liners and health workers to their destinations.

He said the bulk of the revenue came from the registration of motor vehicles, with 741 transactions from May 13 to 19, amounting to PHP931,493.50.

The office also recorded 411 license transactions over the same period, amounting to PHP152,835, while the law enforcement division logged 50 apprehensions with a total fine of PHP145,680.

Rula said the penalties on expired registrations and licenses during the ECQ period were waived by the district office in accordance with the directive from the central office.

“We are also reminding them of the protocols under the general community quarantine (GCQ). They are not allowed to transact business if they do not wear a face mask. Inside the office, they are also required to follow physical distancing,” he said, adding that clients are also required to wash their hands in a designated area, step in a footbath, and check their temperatures before they are allowed to transact business at the office.

Rula pointed out they were expecting an increase in revenue collection by the end of May as clients continue to transact business at the office.

Last year, LTO-ADN contributed considerably to the overall revenue collection of LTO 13 (Caraga region).

Records provided by Rula showed that LTO-ADN’s total revenue collection in 2019 reached PHP43.48 million, 15.83 percent higher than the 2018 collection of PHP37.54 million. (PNA)
