MANILA – A total of 2,664 Filipinos have so far been diagnosed with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) abroad after 29 new confirmed cases were reported by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday.

Six new fatalities were also registered from three countries in the Middle East, raising the death toll to 334.

Amid the rise in new Covid-19 cases, the DFA said the daily rate of recoveries had increased to 2.75 percent with 25 new recoveries in the Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Middle East.

The overall tally now stood at 930.

"With some countries easing their existing travel and mobility restrictions, the DFA personnel in our foreign service posts continue to actively monitor the status of the Filipino community abroad and work to safely repatriate more of our stranded nationals home," the DFA said.

Based on the latest DFA data, 1,400 Covid-19-positive overseas Filipinos are undergoing treatment — 129 in the Asia Pacific, 459 in Europe, 541 in Middle East/Africa and 271 in the Americas. (PNA)
