Coronavirus-infected overseas Pinoys now 5,230

MANILA – The number of overseas Filipinos with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) abroad has reached 5,230 after 12 new cases were confirmed by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday.

The overall tally for recoveries stands at 2,166 with new addition from the Asia Pacific region and the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the fatalities had reached 347 with five new deaths recorded in the Middle East.

"Based on the latest figures, Middle East and Europe still have the highest number of recorded Filipinos infected with Covid-19, Asia and the Pacific has the fewest number of cases and highest in recoveries followed by Europe, while the Americas still has the highest number of fatalities followed by the Middle East," the DFA said.

As of posting, there are 2,717 overseas Filipinos undergoing treatment for Covid-19 — 134 in the Asia Pacific, 472 in Europe, 1,835 in Middle East/Africa and 276 in the Americas. (PNA
