33 medical workers in Bulacan positive for Covid-19; one death

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – A total of 33 medical workers had been infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and one died in this province.

Dr. Jocelyn Gomez, provincial public health officer, told the Philippine News Agency that seven of them were doctors, a midwife, 24 nurses, and a nursing attendant.

Gomez said the lone fatality was a doctor.

Gov. Daniel Fernando said the provincial government of Bulacan has already opened the Bulacan Infection Control Center (BICC) at the Bulacan Medical Center where the infected medical workers are confined and treated for free.

The governor said the province has also come out with an ordinance wherein all those who died from Covid-19 will receive PHP30,000 financial aid.

“For positive asymptomatic patients, they can be accommodated at the Governance Center at the Capitol compound ground in this city while overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who need to undergo quarantine can be housed at the provincial quarantine center inside the Bulacan State University compound.

Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province based on the report of the Provincial Health Office as of Friday afternoon, is 223 where 93 have already recovered, 31 died and 99 were active confirmed cases. (PNA
