DAVAO CITY--The office of 1st District Rep. Paolo "Pulong" Duterte has donated sacks of rice and face masks to various local government units, an official said Tuesday.

James Michael Vergara, a staff member at the lawmaker's office, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) the donations were sent to Mati City in Davao Oriental and Monkayo in Davao de Oro.

“We are scheduled to give out 50 sacks of rice and 50,000 face masks to Panabo City soon,” Vergara said.

Vergara said 100 sacks of rice were donated to Mati City while 100,000 facemasks were donated to Monkayo through Mayor Ramil Gentugaya on Sunday (June 7).

Mati Mayor Michelle Rabat, meanwhile, thanked Congressman Duterte for his generosity, said Ben Jason Tesiorna, Mati City information officer.

Tesiorna said the donated rice will be used for the 4th tranche of food packs distribution to the city this month.

“Our last wave of distribution and we might distribute at least 10 kilos of rice to each of the 56,000 families,” he said.

Earlier, Pulong donated 100,000 face masks, 20 thermal guns, and 1,200 rapid diagnostic test kits for Mati City alone since the start of the pandemic. (PNA)
