Companies hit by Covid-19 ordered to file 'establishment report'

MANILA – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Monday has ordered establishments or employers affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) to submit an "establishment report form" starting Tuesday.

“Pursuant to Section 7 of Labor Advisory 17, Series of 2020, to the Guidelines on Employment Preservation upon Resumption of Business Operation, employers are hereby advised of the RKS Form 5 of 2020. This Form shall be accomplished by establishments for: a) Flexible Work Arrangement p/ Alternative Work Scheme; b) Temporary Closure; c) Retrenchment Reduction of Work Force; and d) Permanent Closure,” Secretary Silvestre Bello III said in Labor Advisory No. 17-A, series of 2020.

They are also asked to submit personally or online the report to the DOLE Provincial/Field Office which has jurisdiction over the workplace.

The form can be accessed and downloaded at the DOLE website, www.dole.gov.ph.

Earlier, the DOLE has asked companies to adopt other work schemes to save their employees from losing their jobs.

The department reported that over 2.7 million workers from 102,697 establishments nationwide were displaced due to Covid-19, as of May.

Among the affected industries are: wholesale and retail, accommodation and food service, manufacturing, construction, education, financial and insurance activities, administrative and support service, transportation, and storage. (PNA)
