CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Department of Health–Central Luzon Center for Health Development (DOH-CLCHD) is reminding the public to strictly observe minimum health standards as the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) is still present amid the transition phase being implemented in the region to achieve the goal of balancing economic activity and public health.

DOH-Region 3 (Central Luzon) Director Cesar Cassion said embracing the new normal as part of daily living saves people from contracting Covid-19  and other diseases now that some provinces in the region are placed under the less rigid modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) status.

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases on Monday released its Resolution No. 46-A series of 2020 placing the provinces of Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Zambales, and the City of Angeles under MGCQ while the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Tarlac, and City of Olongapo remain to be under general community quarantine (GCQ).

“With a more relaxed community quarantine implemented, all the more that we must be keen with our health and lifestyle,” Cassion said in a statement.

He said that wearing of face masks, washing hands frequently, observing physical distancing, staying at home, and foregoing non-essential travels are still important to keep everyone safe and protected from coronavirus.

“Covid-19 is still there. This means we have to continue strengthening our immune system by doing necessary health interventions such as eating a well-balanced diet, having enough rest and at least eight hours of sleep, exercising regularly, and avoiding alcohol and tobacco consumption. Let us continue doing our part in saving lives through constant observation of minimum health standards,” he added.

The DOH, in its June 16 bulletin, said there was a total of 703 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the region, with 410 recoveries and 67 deaths.

Bulacan has the most number of positive cases at 270, followed by Bataan with 166. Pampanga is third with 106 cases.

Meanwhile, there are 11 confirmed Covid-19 cases among the repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Grand Princess Cruise Ship and three among the returning OFWs from Diamond Princess Cruise Ship.

Six health workers from the repatriation team also tested positive of the dreaded disease. (PNA)
