MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday deployed 100 policemen to help its Cebu City-based units in enforcing the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

In a statement, PNP chief, Gen. Archie Gamboa said these police officers were from the police regional offices in Western Visayas and Eastern Visayas.

Cebu City reverted to ECQ following a spike in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.

The deployment was made upon the recommendation of Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, PNP deputy chief for operations and concurrent Joint Task Force Covid-19 commander.

Gamboa also ordered Maj. Gen. Israel Dickson, Director for Integrated Police Operations in the Visayas to coordinate and monitor the troops. (PNA)
