Army's 1ID hiring 'military journalists'

ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Philippine Army's 1st Infantry Division (1ID) said it is hiring journalists to be enlisted into the regular force of the Armed forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Maj. Gen. Generoso Ponio, 1ID commander, said Monday the "military journalists" will serve as public affairs specialist tasked to produce media materials ranging from articles as well as radio and television broadcasts to support the division's strategic communications.

Ponio said applicants who passed the special mode of enlistment would be given a rank of Private and will receive an initial monthly gross salary of PHP37,838.

“Do you want to be a military journalist? The Philippine Army needs you and this is your chance to serve,” Ponio said.

He enumerated the qualifications as the following: male or female aged 23 to 35; must be a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in journalism or related course; at least one year of job experience in the field of journalism; should have strong writing, editing, and layout skill; knowledgeable in photojournalism and graphic designs; and multi-task oriented.

Ponio said personal interviews will be scheduled to a later date, but the deliberation of select qualified applicants and deadline for submission of requirements is on Thursday, July 02.
