MANILA – Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chair Liza Diño-Seguerra on Wednesday reiterated the importance of observing safety measures and following the guidelines in production.

During the Laging Handa briefing, Diño said the clarificatory guidelines that the FDCP issued together with the Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Labor (DOLE) a few days ago does not only cover those in the film and TV industries but everyone involved in audiovisual production.

"Audiovisual production is broad, and not only the film, advertising, and TV. Those who shoot live events or shoot a production even without the audience are also part of it," she said.

Diño said because live events are prohibited in areas under general community quarantine, the industry maximizes various platforms, and do the shooting or production in a controlled environment.

"There were no changes in the guidelines. The (joint administrative order) is just a reiteration of these guidelines. We are looking at how the industry conducts the production. We need to ensure safety," she said in Filipino.

Diño said the FDCP met with the DOH, DOLE, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and also held a focused group discussion with other stakeholders.

She noted that the FDCP has been monitoring to ensure that the guidelines are being followed.

"The LGUs (local government units) would inspect the production being filmed in different locations. (Those involved) would report to us the locations and who are included in the production," she said.

"We ask for the industry's support because this is one of the steps in our fight against Covid-19," Diño added.

In the same briefing, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the joint administrative order is a reiteration of the safety and health guidelines for those who work in the production.

"We are working with different agencies to ensure the safety of the employees, especially during the pandemic," Vergeire said. (PNA)
