BALANGA City, Bataan – Eleven new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and one recovery were registered in this province as of Saturday.

“The 11 new cases, except one overseas Filipino worker, recorded were caused by local transmission of Covid-19 in their localities so we continue to appeal for the strict observance of safety protocol,” Governor Albert Garcia said.

With the new additions, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in this province rose to 258 with 79 active cases, Garcia said, citing the latest report from the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

Of the patients newly-tested positive of the virus four are from Orani, one from this city and six from Mariveles, one of them a male OFW.

With the recovery of a 50-year-old male from Orani, the number of those who have beaten the dreaded disease rose to 169.

The number of deaths, on the other hand, stayed at 10.

The PHO said a total of 5,471 individuals have undergone laboratory exam for the virus.

Of the number, 258 turned out positive, 244 are still waiting for their swab test results while 4,969 were already tested negative. (PNA)
