COTABATO CITY – Authorities killed in a shootout over the weekend three top wanted men in President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat who went into hiding in the neighboring town of Pandag, Maguindanao province.

Lt. Col. Lino Capellan, speaking for the Police Regional Office -12, identified the suspects as Tongal Palalisan Usop, who was President Quirino’s most wanted man sought for murder; Mohajirin Usop, also the town’s top eight most wanted and charged with two counts of frustrated murder; and Mohamiden Salipada Dagadas, an alleged accomplice of the suspects.

“All three suspects were known residents of Barangay Sinakulay in President Quirino town,” Capellan said in a report on Monday.

Capellan said the arresting team was tasked to serve an arrest warrant to the suspects in their hideout in Barangay Malangit, Pandag, late Saturday when they resisted arrest and shot it out with the cops.

“The 12-minute shootout resulted in the wounding of the three who were all later declared dead on arrival at the hospital where they were brought after the armed confrontation,” Capellan said.

Recovered from the suspects were one homemade 12-gauge shotgun pistol with spent shells, a .38-caliber pistol, and a fragmentation grenade. (PNA)
