COTABATO CITY – Seventy-nine out of 405 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) tested positive for coronavirus disease (Covid-19), a regional official bared Monday night.

“The figure was from 257 of the 405 LSIs as 148 others are still awaiting results,” BARMM Interior Minister Naguib Sinarimbo said in a press conference here.

Sinarimbo said the LSIs were brought home from Manila to Mindanao by buses through the government's "Hatid Tulong" program.

“They were the LSIs who were earlier rerouted to Cagayan de Oro City. We fetched and brought to the Maguindanao isolation facility for their mandatory 14-day quarantine period,” Sinarimbo said.

Sinarimbo said the 79 LSIs tested positive for the virus at the Maguindanao isolation center, adding the infected individuals will remain under close monitoring by regional health personnel. (PNA)
