155 LSIs from Metro Manila arrive in Bicol thru 'Hatid Tulong'

LEGAZPI CITY – At least 155 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) from Metro Manila arrived in Bicol region via train through the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) “Hatid Tulong” program on Tuesday.

Jessar Adornado, chief of the Bicol Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office division of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), in an interview on Tuesday, said the LSIs were dropped off at various stations in Bicol based on their destination.

“The arriving LSIs from Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon shall be fetched by the respective provincial LGUs at PNR Ligao City Station,” he said.

Adornado said the breakdown of LSIs per province is as follows: Albay-43; Camarines Sur-37; Catanduanes-6; Masbate-19; Camarines Norte-8 and Sorsogon 42.

“This is the 4th batch of LSIs assisted through Hatid Tulong,” he said.

The train left Tutuban Station in Manila on Monday and arrived at Ligao City station on Tuesday morning.

The implementation of the “Hatid Tulong” program is led by the DOTr in coordination with the Presidential Management Service (PMS), Bicol Inter-Agency Task Force (BIATF) and Regional Task Force (RTF) for Covid-19.

The undertaking has sent home to Bicol a total of 570 LSIs from Metro Manila. (PNA)
