The 11th fatality was identified as Bicol#423, a 79-year-old Filipino male from Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon.

Dr. Ernie Vera, DOH-Bicol director, in an interview on Thursday said the patient first experienced symptoms on July 26 and sought consultation on the same day in a private hospital in Sorsogon City.

“The patient died at 12:23 this morning. His result came out positive for SARS-CoV-2 today, July 30, 2020. His cause of death is Acute Respiratory Arrest, Acute Myocardial Infarction, Pneumonia High Risk,” Vera said.

Meanwhile, the city government here started implementing localized lockdowns in three barangays on Wednesday night.

In an interview, Mayor Noel Rosal said the lockdown was imposed in the villages of Sabang, Pigcale, and Centro Baybay because of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in these areas.

He said Barangay Sabang has four cases; Pigcale, three; and Centro-Baybay, two.

“The Legazpi City Covid-19 Task Force advises the total lockdown of these barangays for 10 calendar days to break the spread of the virus and facilitate the contract tracing,” the mayor said.

An advisory asked the residents in the said villages to stay in their homes and observe strict health protocols.

Rosal said assistance will be given to the barangay officials for distribution to the locked-down villagers.

As of Thursday, July 30, DOH-Bicol has recorded 423 confirmed cases, of which 250 are active with 162 recoveries. (PNA)
