LEGAZPI CITY – To prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Legazpi City Task Force for Covid-19 was prompted to reimpose stricter quarantine protocols to restrict the movement of people.

“The Legazpi City curfew hours will be back at 8:00 in the evening until 4:00 in the morning. Drinking liquor in public places or outside residence is now also prohibited and joggers, walkers, promenaders, and bikers (will be prohibited) along the Legazpi Boulevard (that is) now temporarily closed,” said Mayor Noel Rosal, who is also the city's Task Force Covid-19 chairperson, in an interview on Thursday.

He also said all persons within the jurisdiction of Legazpi are mandated to wear a face mask at all times in all public places.

“All business, private and public establishments are ordered to refuse the entry of anyone who does not abide by the mandate. Persons manning the checkpoints in the borders of Legapzi City shall not allow the entry of anyone not wearing face masks, even if the persons are authorized persons outside residence (APORs). The vigilance of the people is enjoined and are encouraged to report violations to the authorities,” Rosal said.

Penalties, according to him, shall be imposed on violators, who would face a fine not less than PHP20,000 but not more than PHP50,000, or imprisonment for not less than one month but not more than six months.

Rosal appealed for the cooperation of all sectors in the community.

He said discipline among all residents of Legazpi are imperative during this time of pandemic. (PNA)
