DFA logs 15 new Covid-19 cases among overseas Filipinos

MANILA -- The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday said 15 more Filipinos were afflicted with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the Asia Pacific and Europe, jacking up the total number of infected Filipinos abroad to 9,407.

The DFA also reported one new recovery in Europe, bringing the overall tally to 5,462. Meanwhile, the death toll remains at 666 with no new fatality registered by the agency.

"The total number of countries and regions with confirmed cases among Filipinos is now 71," the DFA said.

There are 3,279 active cases among overseas Filipinos, 252 are under treatment in the Asia Pacific, 504 in Europe, 2,400 in Middle East/Africa, and 123 in the Americas.

"As we celebrate International Friendship Day and commemorate World Day Against Trafficking in Persons today, the DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, call for unity and partnership as we fight persisting global problems and concerns that confront our society, sparing no one, regardless of nationality or race. Together, let’s heal and recover as one," the agency said in a statement. (PNA)
