MANILA – A Filipino infected with coronavirus disease (Covid-19) died in Libya, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary Brigido Dulay confirmed Wednesday.

The patient, who was not identified, was the second and only Filipino Covid-19 case in Libya after the first one has recovered.

Dulay said the department is working to repatriate the Filipino's remains at the "soonest" amid the ongoing conflict and travel restrictions in Libya.

All outbound travel from Libya remains subject to flight availability.

"The DFA extends its deepest sympathies to the bereaved family," Dulay said on Twitter.

Based on the latest data from the World Health Organization, a total of 4,063 people have so far been infected with the coronavirus in Libya, 10 of whom passed away. (PNA)
