MANILA – The Chinese embassy in Manila on Thursday turned over 50 ventilators to the Philippines, completing the 130 units it committed to support the country's response against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian and Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. graced the turnover ceremony at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
"The Chinese side looks forward to the early distribution of the aforesaid ventilators to various medical institutions so as to help the Philippines fight against the Covid-19 pandemic," the embassy said in a statement.
Noting the current pandemic situation in the Philippines, the embassy said it is also "donating cash and medical supplies" to Philippine medical institutions to help medical professionals and front-liners.
The embassy will also donate urgently needed medical equipment such as high flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy equipment to the Philippines.
"China will continue to provide support and assistance to the Philippines and stand together with the Philippine government and people to jointly tackle the challenge of the pandemic," it said. (PNA)
