MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Saturday reminded voter registration applicants to comply with strict health protocols more than a week ahead of the start of nationwide voter registration.

In a Facebook post, the poll body said it will strictly implement the “No Face Mask and No Face Shield. No Registration” policy and asked registrants to bring their own pens.

“10 days to go before #VoterReg. #MagparehistroKa na!” it added.

Voter registration will resume on September 1, except in areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) or modified ECQ.

Applications for registration may be submitted from Tuesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Office of the Election Officer (OEO).

“Sunday because it’s Sunday and Monday disinfection day,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said.

Earlier, the poll body encouraged applicants to download the application forms from www.comelec.gov.ph.

It also recommended that downloaded forms be filled out before going to the Comelec office for registration.

The Comelec also reminded the public that forms should be signed in front of the EO.

The poll body is disinfecting all its offices to ensure the safety of its employees and the public against the spread of coronavirus disease. (PNA)
