Bulacan registers 60 new Covid-19 cases; 33 recoveries

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – Sixty new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) were reported in this province, bringing the total number to 2,643.
 
As of 4 p.m. Thursday., there are 1,230 active cases out of the total figure, records from the Bulacan Provincial Health Office (PHO) show.
 
Dr. Jocelyn Gomez, PHO head, said that out of 1,230 active status, 736 are symptomatic and 494 are asymptomatic cases.
 
This city registered the highest number of new cases with 17, followed by Plaridel town with 11, City of San Jose del Monte with seven, Guiguinto with six, Balagtas with four, Doña Remedios Trinidad, San Miguel and Marilao with three cases each, Pulilan and Sta. Maria with two cases each, and Hagonoy and City of Meycauayan with one case each. 
 
The PHO reported that 33 patients have recovered from the dreaded disease, bringing the total to 1,344 recoveries.
 
The City of San Jose del Monte has the highest number of new recoveries with nine, followed by Balagtas and Meycauayan with five each; Paombong and Sta. Maria with three each; Malolos and Plaridel with two each; and Angat, Calumpit, Pandi and Hagonoy with one case each.
 
The number of deaths, on the other hand, stayed at 69.
 
Meanwhile, the newly constructed isolation facility in the City of Malolos is scheduled to open next week as part of the Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate strategy campaign against Covid-19.
 
Mayor Gilbert Gatchalian said the additional isolation facility was constructed at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Barangay Bulihan here with the help of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) with 48-bed capacity.
 
"This will be the temporary shelter of the individuals that have close contact with persons tested positive of the Covid-19 disease while waiting for their swab test results," Gatchalian said. (PNA)
