Tawi-Tawi logs 61 new Covid-19 cases in BARMM

COTABATO CITY – The Ministry of Health in the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-BARMM) on Friday has reported 67 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the region, 61 of them from the island-province of Tawi-Tawi.

In a case bulletin released Friday, the MOH-BARMM said the remaining six new cases are from the province of Lanao del Sur.

“The Sept. 18 confirmed cases from Tawi-Tawi is five times higher than yesterday,” the MOH-BARMM said in a separate statement.

As of Sept. 17, the island-province only had 11 confirmed cases with four deaths. To date, Tawi-Tawi has 72 positive patients.

Across the region, a cumulative number of 895 positive cases have been recorded since March this year.

Of the total, 699 have recovered for a 78-percent recovery rate. Active cases are at 163 with 33 deaths so far.

Of the region's total active cases, Lanao del Sur remains on top with 74; Tawi-Tawi with 62; Maguindanao (24); Basilan (2); and Sulu (1). (PNA)
