DAVAO CITY -- Three new police stations (PS) here are ready to operate within the month as part of an effort to expand the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) in response to the city's growing population.

This was according to Col. Kirby John Kraft, DCPO director, in an interview on Thursday, adding the new police stations are in Mandug (PS 13), Ecoland (PS 16), and Baliok (PS 18).

“The other PS is set for construction and we already discussed with Mayor Sara about the budget. There are already assigned personnel in these PS,” Kraft told the Philippine News Agency.

He said the new police stations meant that at least 175 police personnel will be added to the DCPO  workforce.

“We are just waiting for the deployment of a total of 175 police personnel from the Police Regional Office and they will be deployed to their posts next month,” he said.

Kraft said DCPO plans to add five more police stations in Bajada, Torres, Ma-a, Catigan in Toril District, and Los Amigos in Tugbok District.

“The police stations will be made more accessible to Dabawenyos. Our service should be closer to the people because we have big police stations. There is a tendency that they cannot keep track of other areas, thus the need to have more police stations,” he added. (PNA)
