DAVAO CITY -- Acting Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte led the distribution of 100 Lenovo tablets to qualified junior and senior high school pupils under the “Student Siblings Tablet Sharing Project” at the People's Park here Thursday afternoon.

The gadgets intended for online classes of the city’s indigent students were donated by the International Department of the Communist Party of China, through the China Foundation.

Duterte reminded the beneficiaries of the tablets to make good use of the device and to take care of it.

He also expressed his gratitude to all front-liners "who sacrificed a lot to serve the Dabawenyos".

Norman Baloro, spokesperson for the special project, said the 100 tablets are additional units to the 300 laptops earlier given by the Consulate of the People's Republic of China in Davao City for the same project.

“Priority is still given to less fortunate families and pupils who haven’t enrolled in other scholarship programs and assistance from the government,” Baloro told the Philippine News Agency.

Baloro said students who are already enrolled in other scholarship programs and assistance offered by the city government are not qualified for the project. (PNA)
