MANILA – The Armed of the Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday received four brand-new Coaster minibuses from the Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (AFPMBAI).

In a statement late Monday, AFP public affairs office chief Navy Capt. Jonathan Zata said the vehicles were received by AFP chief-of-staff Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay from retired Maj. Gen. Rizaldo B. Limoso, AFPMBAI president and chief executive officer, during a short ceremony at the General Headquarters Canopy Area, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

"The donation was made to enhance transport capability of particular Unified Commands and AFP Wide Support and Separate Units in the performance of their respective missions," he added.

The Coaster minibuses will be distributed to the Western Command, Eastern Mindanao Command, Western Mindanao Command, and the Philippine Military Academy.

Zata said the blessing ceremony for the vehicles was officiated by Brig. Gen. Raul Ciño, AFP Chaplain Service chief, after the symbolic turnover of keys.

AFPMBAI is a financial institution for uniformed personnel of the Philippines including their families.

“The AFP is immensely grateful to have AFPMBAI’s support as we strive to achieve several missions. Your generosity is proof that the Bayanihan spirit of the Filipinos is alive and it prevails in much-needed instances. Indeed, whatever we will accomplish from hereon, is a shared milestone between the AFP and the AFPMBAI made possible through these donations,” Gapay said. (PNA)
