MANILA – The low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, will bring rains over most parts of the archipelago, a weather specialist said on Thursday.
The LPA was last tracked over the coastal waters of San Pascual, Masbate.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Loriedin de la Cruz said the LPA is likely to develop into a tropical depression once it reaches the West Philippine Sea.
Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The northeasterly surface windflow, on the other hand, will cause isolated light rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley.
De la Cruz said the tropical cyclone (Typhoon Chan-hom) near the boundary of the Philippine Area of Responsibility is less likely to enter the country and has no significant effect on the country's weather.
Meanwhile, strong winds and rough seas will prevail over Northern Luzon.
Central and Southern Luzon will have moderate to strong winds, and moderate to rough coastal waters.
Elsewhere, winds will be light with slight coastal waters, PAGASA said. (PNA)
