DAVAO CITY – The office of  Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo "Pulong" Duterte on Thursday donated a set of communication equipment to Barangay Catalunan Pequeño, Talomo District here.

Jay Villarica, chief of staff of Duterte told the Philippine News Agency on Friday the equipment was provided following a request-letter from Barangay Councilor Jhun Duray, chairman of the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center (BDRRMC) and Peace and Order in Catalunan Pequeño.

The barangay received one base radio with power supply and antenna which will be used in response to calamities, Villarica said.

In his letter to the lawmaker, Duray said the communication equipment would help strengthen the operation of the BDRMMC and the Barangay Peace and Order, especially amid the recent downpours.

Though the barangay has handheld radios, Duray said they could not use these units because of the absence of the base radio needed for this equipment to be fully utilized during emergency response.

Earlier, Duterte's office turned over 20 units of water pumps in Barangay Bago Aplaya in Talomo District to improve the water supply in the village. (PNA)
