COTABATO CITY – To further prevent local transmission of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), Maguindanao Governor Bai Mariam Sangki-Mangudadatu has ordered the distribution of free face shields across the province.

The distribution started Saturday in the towns of Shariff Aguak, Datu Salibo, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Guindulungan, Talayan, and Buluan, and is ongoing as of this posting.

“Nobody will help us but us, let us protect ourselves, stay home and observe basic health protocols when you need to go out,” Mangudadatu said in a statement Sunday.

At present, over 16,000 face shields have been distributed to motorists, market-goers, and residents by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, in partnership with personnel of the Maguindanao Provincial Police Office (MPPO).

Mangudadatu also ordered the distribution of hygiene kits to front-liners from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and MPPO assigned to man checkpoints and control points in the province.

After reminding her constituents to cooperate with authorities in enforcing modified general community quarantine protocols, she assured that the provincial government will continue to find ways to prevent the spread of the virus in the province. (PNA)
