MANILA – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Camilo Cascolan on Wednesday hoped that the construction of new facilities in the PNP Academy would help in fulfilling its mandate to produce competent police officers.

“This is only one of our ongoing programs and plans for the development of the PNPA. We envision this academy as the country’s premier police training institution for PNP commissioned officers, that’s why we have to step up our actions for reforms and innovations in the police training programs,” Cascolan said during the inauguration of 10 new facilities of the PNP Academy in Camp Gen. Mariano Castañeda in Silang, Cavite.

He added that the PNPA is introducing new forms of training for cadets to become more efficient and well-disciplined public servants clad with utmost competency, high moral fiber, and respect for human rights.

PNPA cadets also paid their fitting tribute to PNPA director, Maj. Gen. Gilberto DC Cruz and deputy director, Brig. Gen. Prexy Tanggawohn as they showcased the traditional testimonial parade for noble public servants who demonstrated exemplary commitment in public service.

Meanwhile, Cruz said these new projects and facilities were sourced from PNP funds and generous donations of PNPA alumni and other affiliated associations.

Among these new facilities were Heroes Hall, Virtual Classrooms, Lakan Tower Clock, The Ashfall Cadet Monument, Maroon and Gold Fence, PNPA Museum, PNPA Officer's Quarters, Firearms Simulation Building, and Fitness Gym.

Cruz said the renovation of academic and training facilities, and the procurement of training or academic equipment are part of the PNPA’s response to the PNP Chief's nine strategic thrusts.

“In a short span of time, the Academy has created various means and projects that make this institution a better place for our cadets. These things will not be done without the contribution and support of the PNP leadership and members of the Academy,” Cruz said.

He added that these projects are “testament of what a community of people and the PNP organization sharing the same goal will be able to achieve even in the shortest span of time.”

Last year, the PNP formally assumed its full jurisdiction to manage and control the PNPA under the Republic Act No. 11279 that aims to achieve the goals of a highly efficient and competent police force.

Also, the transfer is in full swing within the next four years as the PNP leadership will come up with the revision of the table of organization and equipment, even staffing pattern to be submitted to the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department of Budget and Management.
