DAVAO CITY – Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo "Pulong" Duterte has called on Dabawenyos to consistently observe proper health protocols to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Duterte reiterated the advice in a statement on Friday, a day after donating 300,000 pieces of face masks to 33 villages here that have been identified as high-risk areas for Covid-19.

"Avoid touching your face and frequently wash your hands with soap and water or alcohol. We have to keep in mind that there is always a threat on Covid-19,” he said.

Duterte also advised Dabawenyos that aside from practicing proper hygiene, they should also ensure the cleanliness of their surroundings.

His office said the distribution of face masks complements the city's ongoing response to the rising number of Covid-19 infections.

A recent risk assessment of the local government said the 33 barangays are considered "very high risk" and "high risk" for Covid-19.

Categorized as "very high risk" are barangays 4-A, 16-B, 22-C, 25-C, and Leon Garcia.

Those considered as "high-risk" areas are barangays 5-A, 19-B, 21-C, 23-C, 27-C, 37-D, Bucana, Buhangin Proper, Cabantian, Maa, Matina Crossing, Pampanga, Panacan, Sasa, Talomo Proper, Toril Proper, 3-A, 7-A, 9-A, 10-A, 14-B, 15-B, 17-B, 24-C, 26-C, Agdao Proper, Gov. Paciano Bangoy, and Kapitan Tomas Monteverde. (PNA)
