MANILA – Eduard Folayang's comeback bid was foiled on Friday night after he lost to Australian Antonio Caruso at the One: Inside the Matrix event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Caruso's well-rounded game proved to be vital as Folayang was nearly finished twice in the fight.

He got his first chance late into the first round when he found an opening for a D'Arce choke, but Folayang got loose of the hold and eventually survived the round.

Caruso, who is four inches taller than Folayang, then showed his might in the striking game, landing a right hook early into Round 2 that knocked the latter down, only that he got back on his feet and made it to the end of the round.

Folayang had a better performance in Round 3 as fatigue began to set in on Caruso, but it was a little too late and Caruso walked away with a unanimous decision win.

Caruso moved up to 8-1 in his career, while Folayang fell to 22-10. (PNA)
