MANILA – The number of families affected by Super Typhoon Rolly has reached 402,458 which is equivalent to 1,612,893 individuals in six regions.

In an update released Tuesday noon, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director Ricardo Jalad said these families are in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, and the National Capital Region.

Meanwhile, 106, 642 families or 408,473 persons are being "served inside and outside evacuation centers".

The NDRRMC also reported that 178 coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients and 417 medical/support staff in 11 mega and local quarantine facilities were evacuated to safer areas before the arrival of the typhoon.

It added that it is still validating reports of 17 deaths and two injured in the Calabarzon and Bicol regions.

Asked for a breakdown on infrastructure damage in the affected regions, NDRRMC spokesperson Mark Cashean Timbal said the Operations Center (OpCen) is "still aligning the computations to separate (damages caused by) 'Rolly' from those of 'Quinta'. "

"We will publish the count provided by (Region 5) once the usual verification procedures are done, the region provides the raw count to give a situation (on the) ground," Timbal said when asked why figures of casualties in the ground are higher than the NDRRMC's actual count.

Also, the NDRRMC reported that a total of 132,163 families or 480,174 were preemptively evacuated in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Cordillera Administrative Region, and NCR.

Meanwhile, it added that damage to agriculture due to "Rolly" was estimated at PHP1.74 billion.

"We also received report of damage to health facilities in Region 5 amounting PHP116 million. Government assistance provided as of 12 noon today (Tuesday), from local government units, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health and non-government organizations have been estimated at PHP26.6 million," Timbal said.
