MANILA – The Valenzuela City government on Friday extended the deadline for availing "tax amnesty on the interest of delinquent real property tax" to ease the burden of the taxpayers amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Under Ordinance No. 807, the city government grants tax relief to all owners of delinquent real property for all classifications through condoning the interests on the real property tax due for Nov. 3, 2020 up to June 30, 2021.

In compliance with Republic Act No. 11469 also known as the "Bayanihan to Heal As One Act," the city government extended the deadline for payment of taxes, fees, and charges.

"The amount of interest of the 3rd quarter of 2020 and below will be condoned within the period of the amnesty. The amount under this tax relief may also be paid in full or in installment," the city government said in a statement.

It added that the ordinance "would not only encourage settlement of unpaid real property taxes but also accelerates collection."

"There were discoveries, declarations, and assessments that were not received by the taxpayers because Notices of Assessment were either received after payments were made and/or at a later date due to the limited manpower/skeleton workforce of the delivery service. This also became a factor, which caused additional interest from the principal tax due," the city added.

The city government said taxpayers who wish to avail of the tax relief must pay all their unpaid real property tax dues "in whole or in installment basis on or before the deadline, without any extension" at the Office of the City Treasurer.

The ordinance, however, does not cover tax amnesty to delinquent real property which has been levied and subjected to public auction sale for non-payment of real property taxes, real property subject of pending cases, and/or litigation and all properties pending expropriation.

Taxpayers are urged to pay their dues via Valenzuela online services (Paspas Permit) at https://online.valenzuela.gov.ph/.

They may also contact the Office of the City Treasurer through telephone number: 8 352 – 1000 loc 1106, for more questions about the ordinance.

Improved job-matching portal

Meanwhile, the city government relaunched a more improved 'Valenzuela Trabaho'—a job-matching portal intended to help unemployed residents seeking jobs amid the pandemic.

The portal targets to match a prospective employer with a job seeker based on their credentials.

It has a filtered job advertisement feature that helps the job seekers streamline their search and determine which job offer fits their credentials.

This also offers members-only privileges including an automatic invitation to job fairs, free seminars, and training, as well as exclusive email and mobile notification of job application status.

Residents may contact the Job Generation Office through telephone line: 8352-1000 local 1215 or the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) through local line: 1710 or visit www.valenzuelatrabaho.gov.ph, for more details and inquiries about the Valenzuela Trabaho job portal. (PNA)
