462 new Covid-19 recoveries, tally now almost 350K: DOH

MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported 462 new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the country's total recovery to 349,974.

In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the DOH said the total recoveries make up 89.3 percent of the country’s 391,809 total Covid-19 cases.

It also reported 2,092 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s total active cases at 34,374 or 8.8 percent of the country’s total cases.

Of the new cases, Davao City reported the highest number with 129, followed by Quezon City with 100, Quezon province with 83, Northern Samar with 82, and Cavite with 80.

Around 83.6 percent of the active cases were reported to have mild symptoms, followed by those without symptoms at 9.8 percent, those in critical condition at 4.2 percent, and those with severe symptoms at 2.4 percent.

The DOH also reported 52 new fatalities, bringing the country’s death toll to 7,461 or 1.9 percent of the country’s total Covid-19 cases.

Out of the 25,900 Covid-19 tests that were administered on Thursday, it said 1,714 were positive with Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the availability of facilities reserved for Covid-19 cases continues to increase nationwide.

To date, 56 percent of the country’s 1,900 beds at intensive care units (ICU) are available, 59 percent of 13,500 isolation beds are unoccupied, 68 percent of 5,900 ward beds are available, while 77 percent of 2,000 ventilators are not in use. (PNA)
